Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced electrical/Instrumentation & Controls designer to lead in the design, modification, and upgrade of power plant electrical systems. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days, and involves reviewing deliverables and guiding multi-disciplinary teams.

You will develop grounding layouts, cable schedules, raceway layouts, and electrical wiring diagrams, oversee project scopes and budgets, and mentor staff

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
• 15+ years of Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls design experience, including 2D & 3D.
• Experience in reviewing Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls deliverables packages.
• Extensive drafting experience using AutoCAD or MicroStation on power plants or large-scale industrial facilities projects.
• Understand drafting and design practices and theories.
• Ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in power plant or large-scale industrial facilities design process.
• Experience developing grounding layouts, underground duct bank and embedded conduit drawings, cable tray and exposed conduit layouts, instrument location plans, area classification plans, and electrical equipment location drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review, supervise and provide technical guidance in the production of design deliverables.
• Lead multiple teams across multiple projects.
• Develop, monitor and control project costs and schedules.
• Coordinate with project management and discipline leads.
• Oversee staff assignments, evaluations and career development.
• Lead field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
