Job summary

DoorDash USA is seeking a Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer to own end-to-end hardware and firmware for connected consumer and enterprise devices. You will design boards, write production firmware and take products through bring-up, validation and production handoff.

You will collaborate across mechanical, software, product, and operations to balance speed, reliability, cost and user experience while shaping multiple programs including merchant hardware and robotics initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on hardware and embedded firmware development.
• Experience taking hardware through production from concept to scale.
• Designed a board and wrote its production firmware.
• Deep experience in compute-based board design, embedded C/C++, bring-up and debugging.
• Ability to derive system architecture from incomplete requirements.
• Experience with power, wireless, sensors and interfaces.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Translate user and business needs into an electrical and firmware architecture.
• Design compute-based boards with processors, power, sensors, wireless, displays and peripherals.
• Develop embedded firmware using bare metal, FreeRTOS, embedded Linux, or Android.
• Lead board bring-up, validation and debugging with lab tools (O-scope, analyzers, etc.).
• Prototype with new sensors and run experiments to extract reliable signals.
• Own full lifecycle of electrical hardware from concept to production handoff.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, product and operations teams, balancing speed, reliability, cost and manufacturability.
• Contribute across programs including merchant hardware and robotics efforts.
