Job summary

DoorDash Labs is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to lead ARM-based firmware bring-up across robotics products in San Francisco. You’ll own low-level firmware for motion control, sensors, and power management, and collaborate with electrical and systems engineers across the full development cycle.

The role emphasizes hands-on bring-up, debugging, and building robust C/C++ firmware with RTOS or bare-metal platforms, contributing to safe and reliable robotic systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on embedded systems development.
• Deep expertise in bare-metal programming on ARM microcontrollers.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded targets.
• Experience with hardware bring-up and low-level debugging.
• Solid understanding of digital buses (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) and peripherals.
• Ability to take ownership across the full development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Own the firmware bring-up and integration for new embedded platforms (e.g. ARM Cortex-M series).
• Develop and maintain bare-metal firmware and RTOS-based applications for robotic subsystems (motor control, sensors, telemetry, power systems).
• Write and maintain robust, well-documented C/C++ code for embedded targets.
• Collaborate with the electrical engineering team on hardware bring-up, schematic review, and system integration.
• Lead system bringup, validation, and debugging.
• Contribute to firmware safety, reliability, and system-level robustness.
