Job description

Senior Electrical Estimator

A rapidly growing engineering and industrial construction firm in Peachtree City is seeking an energetic and motivated professional to join our team as a Senior Estimator in electrical and controls work for its Peachtree City, Georgia office. The estimator will work closely with the design and project management teams.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Lead design-build estimates directing engineers and estimators on scope inclusions and requirements.
  2. Direct subcontractors and internal team members in the completion of the estimate.
  3. Prepare complete scope estimates based on proposal documentation on various design-build projects.
  4. Review, interpret, and analyze project documentation including drawings, specifications, data, commercial terms, proposals, etc.
  5. Develop conceptual estimates from preliminary project parameters.
  6. Manage the development of preliminary workflow, logistics plan, and schedule with project management input.
  7. Prepare detailed estimates for all self-perform work activities, including craft hours, labor, materials, and equipment.
  8. Prepare detailed estimates for subcontracted work activities by completing takeoffs, gathering vendor quotes, and organizing subcontracts.
  9. Organize and file estimate information according to standards.
  10. Formulate all project indirect costs, including staffing, project schedules, on-site facilities, and support costs, with schedule development.
  11. Coordinate with stakeholders (developers, architects, subcontractors, and Forza operations) throughout the design-build process, including attending design meetings as a Forza representative during pre-construction services.
  12. Solicit input from field operations to include in the final project estimate.
  13. Prepare written proposals for review with the Project Manager prior to submission.
  14. Update estimate status and notify the chief estimator of project progress.
  15. Participate in project review sessions at kickoff and closeout.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  1. Experience leading estimators on large-scale estimating projects.
  2. Ability to make and influence decisions under tight deadlines and with incomplete information.
  3. Demonstrate business acumen and the ability to forge partnerships with subcontractors.
  4. Ability to recognize and analyze risk.
  5. Skilled in reading and analyzing electrical and controls schematics, equipment submittals, project specifications, technical data, market, and trade trends.
  6. Proficiency in software such as:
  • Microsoft 365, especially Excel
  • ConEst or similar estimating software
  • Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar takeoff software
  • Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software
  • Digital file management
Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
  2. Electrical field experience if no degree.
  3. 5-10 years of electrical construction experience, especially in design-build projects.
  4. Electrical License for Georgia.
  5. Significant project management experience.
  6. Experience with ConEst estimating software.
  7. Proven success in winning and executing profitable bids.
