Job summary

Freese and Nichols is seeking a senior electrical engineer for Dallas or Fort Worth, Texas. You will serve as a senior technical authority for complex electrical design work across water and wastewater projects while helping define technical direction, deliver high‑quality results, and support technical growth in the team.

This role is intended for the firm’s most complex and highest‑risk electrical work. Responsibilities include leading technical direction, design reviews, QA/QC, coaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program.
• Active Professional Engineer license (PE).
• 6+ years of electrical power experience for water/wastewater systems.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, UL 508A, NEMA MG‑1, IEEE 519, NFPA 820.
• Experience designing complex electrical systems from conception to final.
• Strong executive communication with clients and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide firm-level technical leadership for electrical design and systems for water and wastewater projects.
• Define technical direction for Industrial Power Team; standards and specifications.
• Lead electrical design, commissioning, sequencing, startup, and workload approaches for projects.
• Coach and mentor junior electrical staff.
• Advise project managers and executives on technical strategy, risk, and staffing.
• Serve as senior advisor on complex technical issues, disputes, and innovation initiatives.
• Provide QA/QC for electrical deliverables and standards compliance.
• Lead cross-disciplinary coordination on major projects.
• Represent the firm externally through industry leadership and client forums.
