Job summary

Symbotic, in Wilmington, MA, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for the Bot Hardware team. You will design PCB-based electronics, harnesses, and interfaces powering robotic systems, collaborating across engineering functions to deliver reliable products from development through production.

You’ll lead designs in Altium, drive end-to-end through production, and mentor junior designers while following PDP, SDLC, and PLM processes with frequent CM engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of electrical design experience from concept to production.
• Expertise in Altium schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experience in automation robotics and/or automotive platforms.
• System-level integration: interconnect, grounding, power, sensors.
• Familiar with safety standards for automation/robotics.
• EMC/EMI design practices and debugging to a passing result.
• DfX track record for volume production manufacturing.
• Familiar with PDP/phase-gate process and leading teams.
• PLM usage with contract manufacturers for production ramp.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical solutions across board, harness, and system levels.
• Drive designs from concept through production: architecture, schematic, PCB layout, prototype, and release.
• Follow PDP phase gates, design reviews, and verification for release.
• Design schematics and layouts in Altium; own stackup and routing.
• Apply DfX to ensure manufacturability and testability at CM.
• Work with PLM, BOMs, ECOs, and first article to enable production ramp.
• Write requirements and test plans; validate safety and robustness.
• Investigate failures in lab or field and drive containment and fix.
• Travel to customer sites/CMs/test houses as needed.
