Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager
Role Overview
Our client is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager to lead electrical design on a portfolio of commercial, residential & healthcare projects. This is a hybrid technical and leadership role: candidates will run project teams, manage client relationships, and take design work from concept through construction administration. The role suits someone with 5 to 15 years of MEP consulting experience who is ready to take ownership of projects and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design for commercial, healthcare, institutional, and mission critical projects, from schematic design through construction administration
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and staffing across multiple concurrent assignments
- Serve as primary client contact, coordinating with architects, owners, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
- Produce and review electrical calculations, one line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting design, and specifications
- Perform code compliance reviews against the NYC Building Code, NEC, NFPA, and applicable energy codes
- Oversee construction administration including RFI responses, submittal review, and site visits
- Mentor and review the work of junior and mid level electrical engineers and designers
- Support business development through client relationship management and proposal input
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- 5 to 15 years of electrical MEP consulting engineering experience, with a track record of project ownership
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State, or ability to obtain reciprocity
- Strong working knowledge of the NEC, NYC Building Code, and NFPA standards
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software such as SKM or ETAP
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience across commercial, healthcare, and mission critical / data center project types
- Familiarity with LEED, WELL, or other sustainability rating systems
- Prior experience mentoring or managing junior engineering staff
- Existing relationships with NYC based architects, owners, or general contractors
