Job summary

Engtal is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing MEP/building systems practice in Indianapolis. This role combines deep technical leadership with project ownership, mentorship, and direct collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

You will lead electrical design for building systems, deliver from design through completion, and coordinate with mechanical, structural, and civil colleagues on healthcare, institutional, and government projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in MEP/building systems preferred.
• Experience leading electrical design and project delivery on building projects.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills; ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and design for building systems projects.
• Take ownership of electrical project delivery from design through completion.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Perform and oversee electrical calculations, system design, specifications, and documentation.
• Review designs and ensure technical quality and consistency.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Civil, and Architectural teams.
• Work directly with project managers and clients throughout project delivery.
• Support complex projects across healthcare, institutional, government, and private-sector markets.
• Take on increasing technical and project leadership responsibility as the group grows.

The Opportunity:

A multidisciplinary architecture and engineering consultancy is looking to add a Senior Electrical Engineer to its growing MEP/building systems practice.

The position is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys remaining technically involved while also taking on project ownership, technical leadership, and mentorship responsibilities.

You'll join a developing electrical team and serve as a senior technical resource for less-experienced engineers and designers while working closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and design for building systems projects
• Take ownership of electrical project delivery from design through completion
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Perform and oversee electrical calculations, system design, specifications, and documentation
• Review designs and ensure technical quality and consistency

Ideal Background

• Approximately 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
• Strong MEP/building systems consulting background
• Experience leading electrical design and project delivery
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills
• Ability and interest in mentoring developing engineers/designers
• Healthcare, institutional, or government project experience is a plus
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• PE strongly preferred
