Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer in New York, NY to lead large, complex building projects as both project manager and lead engineer. You will collaborate with a local team of engineers to deliver strategic electrical solutions, engineering analyses, and documentation for clients across Manhattan and surrounding areas.

You will mentor junior staff, drive design quality, and oversee safety and regulatory compliance while delivering innovative building electrical systems

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering required; PE license required
• 7–12+ years in building design consulting (MEP) as an electrical engineer
• Experience on high-rise buildings, commercial offices, residential, education and healthcare facilities
• Knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics in electrical systems
• IES standards and NFPA/FGI resources knowledge
• Ability to mentor and lead junior/associate engineers
• Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
• Advanced Master Specifications editing with eSPECS

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited), or equivalent is required - Professional Engineer (PE) License required
• 7-12+ years of experience in the building design consulting (MEP) industry as an electrical engineer
• Experience working on relevant project work (high rise buildings, commercial offices, residential developments, education facilities, healthcare facilities, municipal projects, etc.)
• Proficiency in principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
• Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
• Experience and/or ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead junior and associate level engineers and designers
• Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
• Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS

Insight Global is hiring Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer in New York, NY. This position will lead the delivery of large, complex building projects as both project manager and lead engineer. This individual will collaborate with a talented team of engineers and consultants local to Manhattan, NY to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and expert advice to clients. This role offers the opportunity to drive engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in diverse building environments, while mentoring staff and ensuring project success. This role will help shape innovative electrical solutions with a national leader in engineering design.

Project work on this team consists of New York corporate, commercial, and government clients, focused on complex urban interiors, base-building upgrades, and civic or institutional work. Frequent MEPT scopes across Manhattan and Long Island include commercial offices, housing, education, healthcare, and public-sector projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead electrical design efforts and analysis of electrical systems using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and company standards
• Perform site assessments and generate detailed technical reports
• Build and maintain client relationships through effective communication and understanding of project requirements
• Conduct in-process design reviews and implement company quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry and client standards
• Train, mentor, and motivate engineering staff
• Provide technical assistance for field issue resolution with minimal support
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; lead research and innovation efforts
• Prioritize safety and identify potential risks in all engineering work
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
• Lead project interviews and presentations
