Job summary

City Light & Power, Inc. CLP Engineering seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer–Power Systems for a senior role. As a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen.

The Lead Engineer will direct design and analysis for subtransmission, substations, and microgrid projects, mentoring staff across the full project lifecycle. Responsibilities include developing system models (ETAP/SKM/EasyPower), preparing reports, and coordinating with field teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in power systems.
• 12+ years in electric utility industry including at least 5 years in a Lead, Supervisor or Project Manager role.
• PE License is required.
• SME in power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design of sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex power distribution projects.
• Develop conceptual and detailed engineering packages for microgrid designs with renewable and fossil assets.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior engineers on project tasks.
• Prepare cost estimates and support construction personnel throughout project life cycle.
• Maintain current with utility standards/codes for O&M and new installations.
