City Light & Power, Inc. is hiring a Civil/Structural Engineer for Power Systems at CLP Engineering. The role focuses on designing, developing, and overseeing civil/structural aspects of substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of civil engineering experience focused on power systems site development.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; California PE license preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and regulatory compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans, designs, and cost estimates for power systems site development projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.
• Analyze project requirements and create technical specifications, calculations, and drawings that comply with codes and standards.
• Provide recommendations to improve project feasibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare all civil and structural designs for various projects.
• Coordinate with other departments, project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, and ensure timely completion within budget and on schedule.
• Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to ensure design and regulatory requirements are met and documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Collaborate with other engineers, planners, and stakeholders to identify and mitigate project risks.
• Mentor junior engineers and review and approve their work products.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, materials, and methods in the power systems infrastructure field and recommend improvements.
