Job summary

PRIME AE Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer I (PE Level) to join our growing MEP team across multiple offices in the Midwest and Southeast.

You will lead electrical system design from concept through construction, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with architects and contractors to deliver compliant, high-quality projects. Ideal candidates have a PE license, ABET-degree, 8+ years of experience, and strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, and lighting software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of experience in electrical system design.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing in the state where the position is based (or ability to obtain).
• Experience designing electrical systems including power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding and bonding, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage systems such as telecommunications, paging, and nurse call.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with electrical analysis software such as SKM and lighting photometric software such as Visual.
• Experience with healthcare or federal projects is strongly preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of building codes, industry standards, and electrical design practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects through multiple phases of design and construction.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems from concept through final construction documentation.
• Perform electrical engineering analyses and calculations to support system design and performance.
• Develop innovative solutions to complex design challenges across multiple project types.
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and contractors to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Review and apply applicable local, state, and federal codes and standards related to electrical system design.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers within the MEP department.
• Participate in design reviews and support construction-phase services as needed.
