Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced electrical engineering leader to drive multi-discipline projects at the Surry Nuclear Generating Station. This on-site field role focuses on investigating, troubleshooting, and solving complex electrical engineering challenges to deliver safe and reliable plant modifications.

The candidate will mentor a design team, develop scope, cost estimates, and schedules for nuclear plant upgrades, review vendor responses, and coordinate with clients to ensure scope

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering program required.
• 10+ years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems for nuclear power plants.
• 3+ years experience in leading an engineering design group through all phases of a project design.
• Experience in selecting equipment, materials, and preparing engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
• Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey information to project team members and client.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Detail oriented approach to work.
• Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
• PE licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead group members to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering deliverables meeting technical, quality, financial and project controls expectations.
• Lead the detailed design phases for electrical engineering work with interfaces to other disciplines.
• Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
• Develop proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
• Provide technical oversight and supervision for all electrical engineering activities, including design change packages and power studies.
• Interface with the client to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.
• Mentor and guide the development of the group.
• Identify and follow up on client needs that may lead to strategic opportunities.
• Leverage client relationships to develop follow-on work.
• Prepare/Coordinate multi-discipline proposals.
• Lead initiatives on automation and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency.
