Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer in New York, NY to join our Movable Bridge Group. You will lead electrical design for infrastructure projects, coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, and systems teams, and mentor junior engineers to deliver high‑quality solutions.

This role requires a PE license, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, 7–10 years of design experience, and rigorous adherence to NEC/IEEE standards throughout planning, design, construction, and closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 7–10 years of design engineering experience
• Experience with electrical systems design (power, lighting, controls)
• Strong understanding of electrical design principles, codes, and industry standards
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation and design software
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems for infrastructure projects (e.g., power distribution, lighting, grounding, and life safety systems)
• Prepare and oversee engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, mechanical, and systems engineering groups
• Participate in all project phases from planning and design through construction support and closeout
• Lead electrical inspections of movable structures
• Review design deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and WSP quality requirements
• Support construction services including RFIs, submittal reviews, field inspections, and site coordination
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams
• Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE) and regulatory requirements
