Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Movable Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation & Infrastructure practice with locations in Tampa, FL; Lawrenceville, NJ; Chicago, IL; or New York, NY. You will lead mechanical design and rehabilitation for movable bridges and contribute to client-driven asset management initiatives.

The role requires a PE license, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and 10+ years in related fields.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years of experience in bridge mechanical engineering or movable bridge systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design and rehabilitation projects for movable bridges (bascule, swing, vertical lift).
• Oversee evaluations of bridge machinery systems, hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, motors, and controls.
• Provide technical leadership for inspections, condition assessments, and lifecycle evaluations.
