Job summary

Groundedrvs in Detroit, MI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own the electrical systems that power modular platforms on specialty vehicles. You will lead high- and low-voltage design, wiring, and integration of our onboard computer system, creating a universal electrical architecture that supports plug-and-play modules.

You will balance delivering current builds with evolving toward a standardized platform while collaborating with mechanical and software teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in real products.
• Strong expertise in automotive EV high-/low-voltage systems.
• Experience with wiring harness design and electrical CAD.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety and compliance.
• Able to work across mechanical and software boundaries.
• Thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical design across vehicles and modular platform.
• Define standardized electrical interfaces, routing, and protection.
• Integrate onboard computer, sensors, and controls for remote monitoring.
• Create schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions with in-house team.
• Spec components (batteries, inverters, contactors) and own safety/compliance.
• Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers on power integration.
• Problem-solve on the shop floor and iterate toward a configurable platform.
