Job summary

Confidential Employer in Pittsburgh seeks a lead electrical engineer to drive projects from schematic design through construction completion. You will guide power distribution, lighting, controls, and fire alarm systems while mentoring junior staff in a collaborative office setting.

You will coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and internal disciplines, contributing to proposals, cost estimates, and resource planning.

Qualifications

  • Requires BSEE or BAE from ABET-accredited institution and PE preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience in consulting, A/E, MEP, or construction-related environment.
  • Experience designing electrical building systems including power distribution, lighting, controls, and fire alarm.

Location

Pittsburgh, PA. This is an on‑site opportunity designed for someone who enjoys working closely with engineering and design teams in a collaborative office environment. Free parking is provided, with travel to project sites required as needed.

Note

Candidates should have 3+ years of directly relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering, architecture/engineering, MEP, or similar construction-focused environment. A BSEE or BAE from an ABET-accredited institution is required. Professional Engineer registration is preferred but not required.

Job Description
  • Lead electrical projects from schematic design through construction documents and construction completion.
  • Direct the design of power distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm, low-voltage, and specialty electrical systems.
  • Oversee electrical load calculations, lighting calculations, and related engineering analysis.
  • Lead engineers and designers while providing technical direction, mentoring, and day-to-day project guidance.
  • Create and review construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Perform and oversee field surveys and existing‑condition assessments with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Perform power system studies using SKM PowerTools.
  • Prepare project specifications using SpecLink or similar specification‑writing software.
  • Perform engineering studies and prepare technical reports.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews to maintain design quality and consistency.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, internal disciplines, external consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist leadership with project proposals, cost estimates, construction administration, business development, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight travel.
Qualifications
  • BSEE or BAE from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of directly relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience in consulting engineering, an A/E firm, MEP engineering, or a similar construction‑related environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, controls, and fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Ability to coordinate projects across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time‑management skills in a fast‑paced project environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Leadership mindset with an interest in mentoring junior staff.
  • Professional Engineer registration preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
