Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead complex electrical building systems projects from design through construction. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with architects and owners, and oversee power distribution, lighting, controls, and fire alarm systems.

Expect hands-on technical design, development of construction documents in AutoCAD/Revit, and involvement in field surveys and power studies.

Qualifications

  • BSEE or BAE from ABET-accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience in consulting engineering, A/E firm, or similar construction environment.
  • Experience designing building electrical systems: power, lighting, controls, fire alarm.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical projects from schematic design through construction documents and completion.
  • Direct design of power distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Oversee load calculations, lighting calculations, and related analyses.
  • Lead engineers and designers with technical direction and mentorship.
  • Create/review construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Perform field surveys and existing-condition assessments with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Perform power system studies using SKM PowerTools.
  • Prepare project specifications using SpecLink or similar software.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure design quality.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and stakeholders.
  • Assist leadership with proposals, cost estimates, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight travel.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Location:

Note:

Candidates should have 3+ years of directly relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering, architecture/engineering, MEP, or similar construction-focused environment. A BSEE or BAE from an ABET-accredited institution is required. Professional Engineer registration is preferred but not required.

Job Description

  • Lead engineers and designers while providing technical direction, mentoring, and day-to-day project guidance.

  • Perform power system studies using SKM PowerTools.
  • Prepare project specifications using SpecLink or similar specification-writing software.
  • Perform engineering studies and prepare technical reports.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews to maintain design quality and consistency.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, internal disciplines, external consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist leadership with project proposals, cost estimates, construction administration, business development, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight travel.
Qualifications
  • BSEE or BAE from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of directly relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience in consulting engineering, an A/E firm, MEP engineering, or a similar construction-related environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, controls, and fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Ability to coordinate projects across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Leadership mindset with an interest in mentoring junior staff.
  • Professional Engineer registration preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
