BSEG (Building Systems Engineering Group) is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our electrical engineering team on building projects. You will take ownership from initial design to construction, coordinating with clients and project team to meet technical, schedule, and budget requirements.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in electrical engineering for buildings
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Strong experience in the design of building electrical systems
• Ability to independently develop electrical designs and construction documents
• Experience managing or coordinating projects from design through construction
• Ability to communicate and coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and other consultants
• Working knowledge of applicable electrical and building codes
• Experience with electrical calculations, specifications, and equipment selection
• Experience with construction administration, including submittal review, RFIs, and field observations
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
• EIT certification preferred
• PE licensure preferred for senior candidates

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in projects from initial design through construction, including system selection, calculations, equipment selection, preparation and coordination of construction documents, and construction administration
• Design building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, generators, UPS systems, fire alarm, and communications systems
• Develop and manage assigned designs and projects with a high degree of independence, while utilizing senior staff for technical guidance and QA/QC review as appropriate
• Serve as a project engineer and technical point of contact for assigned projects
• Participate in project meetings and coordinate directly with architects, owners, developers, contractors, consultants, and BSEG's other engineering disciplines
• Maintain awareness of project schedules, budgets, scopes, and deliverables and communicate potential issues to project leadership
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Prepare electrical calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documents
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, perform field observations, and assist with resolution of construction-related issues
• Perform technical reviews of work prepared by less experienced electrical staff
• Assist in mentoring and developing junior engineers and designers
• Assist with preparation of proposals, project scopes, and engineering fee estimates
• Participate in client relationship development and business development activities as experience and responsibilities increase

The Role

BSEG (Building Systems Engineering Group) is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our electrical engineering team.

This position is well suited for an electrical engineer with approximately 5–10 years of experience in the MEP consulting engineering industry who is comfortable taking an active role in projects from initial design through construction.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing electrical designs, coordinating directly with clients and other members of the project team, and helping deliver projects that meet technical, schedule, and budget requirements.

This position offers the opportunity to take on increasing project responsibility and continue developing toward senior technical, project management, and leadership roles within the firm.

Key Responsibilities

The Person

• 5–10 years of experience in electrical engineering for buildings, preferably within an MEP consulting engineering firm.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Strong experience in the design of building electrical systems.
• Ability to independently develop electrical designs and construction documents.
• Experience managing or coordinating projects from design through construction.
• Ability to communicate and coordinate directly with architects, owners, contractors, and other consultants.
• Working knowledge of applicable electrical and building codes.
• Experience with electrical calculations, specifications, and equipment selection.
