Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an entry-level Electrical Designer in Pittsburgh, PA. You will contribute to real-world building projects, performing load and lighting calculations under guidance of senior engineers.

You will create construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit, design power distribution and lighting systems, and participate in field surveys to gain hands-on experience. This role requires a BSEE/BAE (ABET) and US work authorization.

Qualifications

  • BSEE or BAE from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Internship or co-op experience is a plus; 0–3 years preferred.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, electrical design, or building systems is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical load calculations, lighting calculations, and other design calculations with guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Create and update construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Design power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, and specialty electrical systems.
  • Participate in field surveys and existing-condition assessments alongside senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and designers to deliver coordinated project solutions.
  • Manage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy, organization, and project deadlines.
  • Continue building your technical knowledge through hands-on project experience and mentorship.
  • Participate in occasional project-related travel as needed.
