Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Building Engineering Services team in Charlotte or Raleigh. You will coordinate electrical design with a multidisciplinary group and lead electrical efforts on key projects.

Responsibilities include client engagement, design reviews, and ensuring code compliance. The role emphasizes mentoring staff, meeting schedules, and delivering high-quality building systems across lighting, power, and life-safety domains.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with electrical emphasis.
Minimum 10 years of electrical design experience for buildings (lighting, power, systems).
PE license recognized by the local licensing board required (PE or P.Eng).
Strong knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, life safety and BMS.
Proficient in MS Office and electrical design software; lead and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

Coordinate electrical engineers with multi-discipline teams throughout project development.
Lead electrical design on projects and ensure schedule adherence.
Establish client relations and participate in design and production meetings.
Conduct project reviews for code compliance with authorities having jurisdiction.
Mentor staff and manage workload and project budgets as needed.
