Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Justice + Civic sector. The role focuses on leading complex projects, coordinating with sector teams, and delivering integrated building designs across disciplines.

You will guide engineers, manage budgets, and participate in business development. The successful candidate will have a PE license, 15+ years of relevant experience, and deep knowledge of lighting, smoke control, and security systems for justice facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• Minimum 15+ years of experience as an engineer in building systems for Justice + Civic projects.
• Experience designing smoke control systems and coordinating with smoke modeling teams.
• Strong understanding of lighting systems for justice facilities, including correctional environments.
• Knowledge of security requirements for justice facilities and integration with electrical systems.
• Familiarity with building operations and maintenance of electrical systems.
• Ability to lead, manage teams across regions, and communicate with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects and staff across regions, ensuring design criteria are followed.
• Assure design quality through reviews and checkpoints.
• Manage project execution within budget, schedule, and scope; meet client expectations.
• Track milestones, prepare status reports, and document meetings with staff and clients.
• Support business development through RFP responses and client interviews; foster relationships.
• Lead design on significant projects and collaborate with architects and other engineers.
