Job summary

DLR Group in Des Moines, IA seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer focused on Justice + Civic projects to lead multidisciplinary teams, produce high-quality construction documents, and manage schedules to meet deliverables. You will collaborate with sector leadership to shape strategy and client relationships.

The successful candidate will drive design criteria, coordinate with architects and engineers, lead business development efforts, and mentor staff while delivering on budget and client

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• 15+ years of experience designing building systems for Justice + Civic projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts and design of building systems.
• Experience leading teams, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and managing budgets.
• Knowledge of local building and energy codes is preferred.
• Ability to develop client relationships and contribute to business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects and staff across regions to ensure design criteria are understood.
• Ensure quality of design through reviews and documentation.
• Manage project execution to align with budget, schedule, and scope.
• Track milestones, prepare status reports, and coordinate meetings with staff and clients.
• Engage in business development via RFP responses and client interviews.
• Lead design for significant projects and collaborate across disciplines.
• Provide technical reviews and represent the firm in client meetings.
