Job summary

KGS Group, an employee-owned engineering consulting firm, seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead design and mentorship for hydro and dam projects across North America. You will guide feasibility studies, prepare construction drawings, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients.

The role emphasizes design delivery, project leadership, and growth of hydropower capabilities, with travel to project sites as required.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
• 7–15 years of electrical engineering experience with project management skills.
• PE licensure in WA/OR/CA and eligibility for other states within 3 months.
• Consulting experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lead as project engineer and communicate with clients.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide input to manage and execute multiple projects from proposal to completion.
• Collaborate with departments to support service delivery.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to meet quality, schedule and budget objectives.
• Design modifications or new electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems for hydro facilities.
• Conduct feasibility studies and assess costs and alternatives.
• Manage multiple projects including water resources, flood control and hydroelectric sectors.
• Prepare and review reports; perform calculations; conduct on-site inspections.
• Edit and prepare design specifications; perform QA/QC reviews per KGS processes.
• Contribute to development of electrical engineering practice and internal training content.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
