Job summary

KGS Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in California to lead and mentor teams on large hydro projects. You will contribute to feasibility studies, engineering design, construction drawings, and field inspections, interfacing with clients and senior stakeholders.

The role emphasizes developing powerhouse and energy capabilities, guiding graduate engineers, and coordinating multi-disciplinary project inputs across the U.S. and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with demonstrated project management skills (tracking budgets and meeting schedules).
• Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California; eligible in Washington state and other states as a plus.
• Previous consulting experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Client interaction: lead role as project engineer in meetings and communicate project/technical information.
• Experience with hydroelectric project components and related systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide input to those managing and executing multiple projects from proposal stage through to completion.
• Establish linkages with other departments to support and enhance service delivery.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and multidisciplinary project teams to meet quality objectives, schedules and budgets.
• Pursue new business opportunities with clients.
• Manage and mentor junior staff.
• Design modifications to electrical, instrumentation and balance-of-plant systems for dams, control structures and hydroelectric facilities.
• Prepare and review reports.
