Job summary

Nexamp is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Clean Energy Deployment team. You will review solar & storage projects, providing technical expertise in interconnection, construction, and commissioning of distributed energy resources (DERs).

The role supports hybrid work across hub offices in Chicago, Boston, DC, and NY and reports to the Director of Electrical Engineering; you will collaborate with Grid Integration, Project Engineering, and development teams to advance Nexamp's

Qualifications

• 6+ years of electrical engineering experience including PV experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and EIT certification.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and power system modeling tools (ETAP/SKM/AmpCalc).
• Knowledge of NEC/IBC/IFC and code compliance expectations.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities; driving projects to completion.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review equipment shop drawings for switchgear, transformers, and other major electrical equipment.
• Perform ETAP and AmpCalc modeling to coordinate protection and arc-flash calculations.
• Manage scope of work for 3rd party electrical engineers including studies; protection coordination, power flow, and modeling.
• Support Grid Integration and Project Engineering teams; review reports and interconnection documents.
• Provide commissioning support and review tests; develop mitigation plans and certify completion.
• Contribute to lifecycle project support across development, construction, and asset management.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to SOPs and process improvements.
