Job summary

ETAP, based in Irvine, CA, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead interconnection studies for utility-scale projects across the U.S. You will model, analyze, and report on renewable integration, battery storage, and conventional generation within both transmission and distribution networks.

You will direct study teams, ensure compliance with IEEE/NERC/FERC standards, and contribute to tool development for advanced modeling and automation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus.
• 5+ years leading transmission and/or distribution interconnection studies.
• Excellent knowledge of IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, NERC/FERC, and ISO/RTO processes.
• Experience with PSSE/PSCAD/PSLF/TSAT and scripting interfaces like Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate detailed models for renewable generation, battery storage, and distributed resources.
• Lead interconnection studies for transmission and distribution networks.
• Perform power flow, voltage, short‑circuit, and protection coordination analyses.
• Coordinate with utilities and ISOs/RTOs to meet interconnection standards.
• Prepare reports and client presentations; supervise study engineers.
• Develop study methodologies and automation tools for T&D interconnection studies.
• Research, design, and test software applications for modeling and energy management.
