Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) in Rancho Bernardo seeks an Senior Electrical Engineer to advance digital design, HDL methods, and embedded controls for high-energy laser and space sensing systems. You will design, prototype, test, and document electrical architectures across multiple product lines, often leading a small team and interfacing with engineers and program management.

The role requires 8+ years in engineering, DoD clearance eligibility, and hands-on experience with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in engineering with extensive professional experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
• Experience in digital circuit design and HDL-based hardware processing.
• Familiarity with Xilinx Vivado, Zynq MPSoC, and high-power/system applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, test high-power processing solutions across product lines.
• Lead and mentor staff; develop designs with limited direction.
• Document results and communicate findings to engineering and program management staff.
• Coordinate development and deployment plans, including documentation and presentations.
• May lead projects and guide junior staff in technical efforts.
• Travel and extended work schedules may be required.
