Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Team. You will design and deliver electrical systems for a diverse portfolio including commercial, healthcare, higher education, civic and residential projects.

The ideal candidate collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, mentors junior engineers, and uses Revit and BIM tools to coordinate designs, perform calculations, and support project delivery from concept through closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering or related discipline.
• 5-7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in the design of building systems.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure in the near term.
• Working knowledge of NEC, building and energy codes, electrical distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls, emergency and standby power systems, fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical engineering design and analysis for building systems projects.
• Develop construction documents, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Design power distribution, lighting, emergency power, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Coordinate designs with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Support project managers in meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
• Utilize Revit and BIM tools to develop and coordinate project designs.
• Conduct field investigations, site visits, and existing condition assessments.
• Assist with construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and supporting project closeout.
• Review work for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Support technical excellence initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
