Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Team in Chicago, IL. You will design electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, and civic projects, collaborating with Architects and engineers to deliver sustainable building solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience, holds an EIT, and aspires to obtain a PE license. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and power/lighting systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 5-7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in building systems.
• EIT certification required.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain licensure soon.
• Working knowledge of NEC, building and energy codes.
• Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, SKM/ETAP, MS Office.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical design and analysis for building systems.
• Develop construction documents, specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Design power distribution, lighting, emergency power, grounding, fire alarm, and LV systems.
• Coordinate designs with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Support project managers in meeting schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
• Utilize Revit and BIM tools to develop and coordinate project designs.
• Conduct field investigations, site visits, and condition assessments.
• Assist with construction administration activities, including RFIs and submittals.
• Review work for code compliance and client requirements.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
