Job summary

Merrick & Company in San Antonio, TX is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead design and BIM production for complex projects, including government and private clients. The role covers from programming through construction administration in a hybrid environment.

You will design electrical systems (≤600V, ≤15kV), develop calculations and specs, meet with clients, prepare proposals, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across disciplines to meet schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or architectural engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Eight (8) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
• Proficient in using REVIT/AutoCAD.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical regulatory codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEE.
• Experience using electrical calculation tools and lighting/power software (AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, EasyPower).
• Self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, and able to work in a demanding environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• U.S. Citizenship required for client projects.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for facilities including Government and private clients.
• Provide conceptual and detailed design for power distribution up to 600V and site power up to 15kV, as well as emergency power, grounding, and lighting design.
• Prepare calculations, reports and specifications.
• Meet with clients to validate scope of work and prepare fee proposals.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure package accuracy, schedule, and budget.
• Write and edit project specifications.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers and manage the local team.
