Senior Electrical Engineer - Arizona
Arizona | Contract | 4 Weeks On / 1 Week Off Rotation

We're recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer role at a large-scale copper mining operation in Arizona. This is a strong fit for a senior electrical engineer ready to act as the site's subject matter expert across large and complex capital projects, with working knowledge of PLCs, radio communications and control systems.

The Opportunity

You'll provide technical advice and guidance across all phases of electrical engineering projects, developing work that uses new technology to continually improve site safety, efficiency, cost control, quality control and environmental protection. You'll manage large or complex site planning, construction, expansion and modification projects as the subject matter expert, advise site management on applicable processes and regulations, and lead on AFEs and capital funding requests for your designated engineering areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and investigate assigned engineering projects and develop appropriate recommendations
• Manage large or complex site planning, construction, expansion, and modification projects, serving as a subject matter expert
• Advise and counsel the site management team on applicable processes, practices and existing or proposed local, state, and federal regulations
• Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting for designated engineering areas
• Develop and evaluate Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) for capital funding requests
• May evaluate and administer vendor contracts for the provision of services and equipment
• May represent the site on company-sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams
• Start: ASAP
• Contract roster: 4 weeks working onsite / 1 week off at home (off week unpaid)
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, with hours determined by project needs
• Day rate: US$700 per paid working day
• Stipend: US$750 per month while working onsite
• Accommodation: provided (single status)
• Transportation: provided

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline plus five (5) years of related engineering experience; or Master's degree plus three (3) years of related experience
• Well experienced in mining and/or large industrial or construction projects
• Advanced degree or Professional Engineer (PE) certification highly regarded

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of electronics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), radio communications, and control systems
• Broad knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with an understanding of mechanical and process engineering techniques
• Skilled in managing large / complex engineering projects
• Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques that improve operations

Personal Attributes

• Ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards, follow safety practices and recognize hazards
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable working a 4 weeks on / 1 week off rotational roster
