Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks an Electrical Engineer Senior for 2nd shift to support final assembly, test and delivery of the Columbia-class submarine. The role includes engineering oversight, interfacing with design, ship’s management, SUPSHIP and PMS397 as the primary engineering interface for the Groton shipyard.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of post-graduate experience and must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and work 2nd

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of post graduate engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
• Ability to work 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and assist electrical trade personnel to overcome emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction.
• Interpret design, drawing, and technical specification requirements.
• Provide engineering evaluation and/or direction to Groton trades via dispositions of Change Notices and TIR UNSATs.
• Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material.
• Conduct engineering evaluations to support all manufacturing and construction needs.
• Facilitate the implementation of design and process improvements.
• Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Highly motivated and be able to perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in a team environment.
