Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton seeks an electrical engineer for the 2nd shift to provide technical oversight during construction, testing and delivery for the COLUMBIA class. You will interface with design, ship management and suppliers to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, 0–5 years of experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD clearance. On-site work with shift differential is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 0-5 years of post graduate engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher.
• Ability to work 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and assist electrical trade personnel to overcome emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction.
• Interpret design, drawing, and technical specification requirements.
• Provide engineering evaluation and/or direction to Groton trades via dispositions of Change Notices and TIR UNSATs.
• Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material.
• Conduct engineering evaluations to support all manufacturing and construction needs.
• Facilitate the implementation of design and process improvements.
• Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence.
