Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a COLUMBIA Class Construction Support Engineer for the experienced 2nd shift to help deliver the first-of-class SSBN 826 COLUMBIA. You will work hands-on, resolving deckplate issues and interfacing with shipyard trades to ensure construction aligns with design intent.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 5+ years in discipline-specific engineering, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering in listed disciplines
• 5+ years of discipline-specific engineering experience
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel
• Evaluate emergent shipyard issues and rapidly develop technically acceptable resolutions
• Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements
• Provide direction and evaluation to Groton trades via CNs and TIR UNSATs
• Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery activities for COLUMBIA Class
• Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence.
