Job summary

Engtal is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer in Washington to support retrofit and modernization projects for commercial, institutional, and public-sector facilities. You will design electrical systems, prepare plans and specs, and ensure NEC compliance, while collaborating with mechanical, energy, construction and commissioning teams from design through field implementation.

PE licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Design electrical systems for existing building renovations, retrofits, infrastructure upgrades and energy-efficiency projects.
• Develop designs across power distribution, lighting and controls, generators, fire alarm and associated building systems.
• Produce electrical plans, specifications, calculations and project documentation, ensuring compliance with NEC and applicable codes.
• Develop lighting upgrades and electrical energy conservation measures supporting wider decarbonization and energy optimization projects.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, energy engineers, construction teams and commissioning professionals from initial design through construction and implementation.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, review submittals and shop drawings, and provide technical support throughout project delivery.

We are partnered with a growing integrated engineering, design and construction firm that is changing the way building improvement and decarbonization projects are delivered.

They are looking to add an experienced Electrical Engineer to their team, supporting complex retrofit and modernization projects across commercial, institutional and public-sector facilities. Bringing engineering, construction, energy and commissioning expertise under one roof, the team delivers projects from initial assessment and design through construction and implementation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from an MEP, consulting engineering, energy or design-build environment who wants broader project exposure and the chance to see their designs implemented in the field.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Background within MEP consulting, architectural engineering, energy services, design-build or a similar building-focused environment.
• Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, generators and associated building electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of the NEC and applicable electrical codes and standards.
• Experience with Revit and Bluebeam.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and operating with a high degree of autonomy.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• PE licensure is required
