Job summary

X4 Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in the United States to lead electrical design across data centers, commercial, healthcare and industrial markets. Expect close collaboration with leadership, project teams, and clients on projects of varying size and complexity.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering training, 7+ years in electrical design, and strong Revit/CAD skills. You will mentor teams, perform technical analyses, and help grow the firm across markets.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in electrical design.
• Experience with commercial construction electrical design, building codes and CAD concepts.
• Design experience in primary and secondary utility service entrances; familiarity with utility company interactions & standards.
• 3+ years of Autodesk Revit experience.
• Ability to meet deadlines and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as a project electrical engineer for design, development and documentation of primary/secondary power, lighting, fire alarm and other systems on small to medium projects.
• Assist in design and documentation on large/complex projects as part of a larger engineering team under a discipline leader.
• Research and document required code compliance for assigned projects.
• Perform product research for project development.
• Attend project team coordination and Owner review meetings.
• Develop materials for client presentations and review meetings.
• Present electrical system concepts/designs to clients or review committees.
• Develop and edit project specifications.
• Review product shop drawings/submittals.
• Review RFIs and respond accordingly.
• Visit project construction sites to review progress and develop field observation reports.
• Develop relationships with new and existing clients.
• Complete power system studies and engineering calculations (load, voltage drop, lighting, harmonics, etc.).
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and follow up on improvements.

Responsibilities

• Act as a project electrical engineer for the design, development and documentation of primary power, secondary power, lighting, fire alarm and other auxiliary systems on small to medium-sized projects
• Assist in the design, development and documentation of primary power, secondary power, lighting, fire alarm and other auxiliary systems on large and complex projects as part of a larger engineering team under a discipline leader
• Research and document any required code review for assigned projects
• Perform product research as required for project development
• Attend project team coordination meetings and Owner review meetings
• Develop materials for client presentations and review meetings

• Develop construction administration field observation reports

• Complete power system studies, including short circuit, device coordination, and arc flash calculations for assigned projects
• Complete engineering calculations, analysis, and reports, including load calculations, voltage drop, normal and emergency lighting calculations, power quality and harmonics analysis, facility condition assessments, and cost estimates
• Participate in ongoing continuous improvement efforts and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and service. Follow-up with improvement implementation

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) college or university with a degree in Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
• Significant knowledge and experience in the area of electrical design for commercial construction, building codes and CAD concepts
• Design experience in primary and secondary utility service entrances required, including familiarity with utility company interactions & standards
• Advanced knowledge and experience using computer-aided design, spreadsheets and word processing programs (Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Teams)
• 3+ years experience in Autodesk Revit required
• Ability to effectively meet deadlines
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

• Licensed Professional Engineer preferred, either currently licensed or willing to obtain license
