Job summary

W3Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Munster, IN to design and implement electrical systems for diverse projects. You will collaborate with architects, owners, and operators, perform field observations, and develop costs and specifications for electrical scopes.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 7+ years of relevant experience, with Revit MEP proficiency. Remote work is limited to meetings; on-site presence in Munster is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering experience across diverse project types.
  • Experience designing electrical systems, cost estimation, equipment selection, and specs.
  • Construction administration including reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and site observations.
  • Excellent communication skills; project management experience desirable.
  • PE license or EIT progress preferred; Revit MEP experience required.
  • Ability to work independently or in a multi-discipline team.

Responsibilities

Overview

We are a growing MEP/FP engineering firm seeking a skilled and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical systems and engineering principles, with a focus on design, development, and implementation of electrical components and systems. This role requires proficiency in various engineering software and tools, as well as the ability to work collaboratively on complex projects.

Duties
  • Interface with architects, owners, building operators, and other design team members to coordinate project schedules, budgets, and engineering requirements.
  • Perform preliminary field observations to assess existing electrical and low voltage systems; document existing conditions to inform new design work.
  • Prepare preliminary construction cost estimates for electrical and low voltage system scopes.
  • Review architectural, structural, civil, and other engineering documents to identify design impacts and develop appropriate electrical system scope and design criteria.
  • Perform sizing and selection of electrical distribution equipment and components to meet project requirements and support overall building systems.
  • Prepare detailed project specifications, engineering reports, and basis of design documentation.
  • Develop and review electrical system calculations, including load analysis, generator sizing, short-circuit analysis, photometric modeling, arc flash studies, and coordination studies.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, consistency with design criteria, conformance with scope, and alignment with company quality standards.
  • Organize and maintain comprehensive project engineering records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist during construction by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, conducting site observations, attending construction meetings, and preparing field reports.
  • Maintain an active program of continuing education, including progress toward Professional Engineering (PE) licensure and sustainability-related certifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years experience in electrical engineering for all types of projects (schools, hospitals, commercial office facilities, retail, multi-family, etc).
  • Experience designing electrical systems (power, lighting, emergency, life safety, low voltage, etc.), performing cost estimates, reviewing equipment selections, and specification writing.
  • Construction administration experience including reviewing contractor shop drawings, preparing RFI responses, and site observations and punch lists.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Project management experience desirable.
  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team.
  • Revit MEP experience required.
  • SKM/ETAP, AGI32/Elum Tools, and Bluebeam experience a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT with progress towards licensure preferred.
