  • Strong knowledge of NEC, building codes and standards (NFPA, IBC).
  • Experience designing systems for commercial, healthcare, industrial, educational, hospitality, or mission-critical facilities.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) building systems to support the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical infrastructure for commercial, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering innovative, code-compliant electrical designs while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, architects, contractors, and clients throughout all phases of a project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical systems for new construction and renovation projects, including:
  • Lighting and lighting controls
  • Emergency and standby power systems
  • Low-voltage and communications infrastructure
  • Grounding and lightning protection systems
  • Prepare electrical calculations including:
  • Load calculations
  • Short circuit analysis
  • Develop construction documents, specifications, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, energy codes, NEC requirements, and client standards.
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and system assessments to support design and construction activities.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Participate in commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical systems.
  • Support project management efforts including budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, and client communication.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, sustainability, and system optimization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering design for MEP/building systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Building codes and standards

  • IBC and local jurisdiction requirements
  • Experience designing systems for commercial, healthcare, industrial, educational, hospitality, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, lighting design, and building electrical infrastructure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
