LiquidPiston, a fast-paced R&D team, seeks an Electrical Engineer II to own end-to-end hardware development. You will design analog/digital circuits, create schematics and PCB layouts, and build prototypes. You’ll troubleshoot with lab equipment, solder components, and integrate electronics into engine test setups.

You will collaborate with mechanical, controls, and test engineers to resolve complex challenges and drive hardware improvements from concept through testing.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits.
• Hands-on PCB design experience using Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar tools; ability to generate schematics, layouts, BOMs and wiring diagrams.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and experience with lab equipment.
• Experience soldering through-hole and surface-mount components, including PCB modifications and rework.

First Search is partnering with our client, LiquidPiston, to find a talented, hands‑on Electrical Engineer II to join their engineering team!

LiquidPiston is developing innovative rotary engine technology for aerospace, defense, and power generation applications. Their team works in a fast-paced R&D environment, taking engineering concepts from initial design through prototype development, testing, and refinement.

This is an exciting opportunity for an electrical engineer who enjoys more than just designing behind a computer. Our client is looking for someone who wants to be involved in the entire engineering process, from designing circuits and developing PCBs to building prototypes, troubleshooting hardware, and testing electrical systems.

What You'll Be Working On:

• Designing and analyzing analog and digital circuits for next-generation engine and power systems.
• Developing electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
• Designing and developing printed circuit boards using Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar software.
• Performing hands‑on troubleshooting and debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other laboratory equipment.
• Assembling, modifying, and repairing electronic hardware, including soldering, PCB rework, wiring harnesses, and prototype fabrication.
• Integrating electrical components, sensors, servos, thermocouples, and control systems into mechanical assemblies and engine test equipment.
• Supporting prototype testing, analyzing test data, investigating hardware failures, and implementing design improvements.
• Collaborating with mechanical, controls, and test engineers to solve complex engineering challenges.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits.
• Hands‑on PCB design experience using Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar tools.
• Experience creating electrical schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and wiring diagrams.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and experience working with laboratory test equipment.
• Experience soldering through‑hole and surface‑mount components, including PCB modifications and rework.
• Familiarity with electrical controls, sensors, servos, and thermocouples.
• Ability to independently manage electrical design projects while actively participating in fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to work across multiple engineering disciplines.
