Radiance Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and qualify missile electronics and power architectures. You will own hardware across the full lifecycle from concept through flight test support, including onboard avionics, power distribution, and interconnects.
You will work hands‑on with high‑reliability PCBA design, MIL‑STD compliance, and lab/HWIL environments, requiring active DoD security clearance and pursuit of mission‑critical solutions.
Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee‑owned company, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, integration, and qualification of missile electronics, power architectures, and electrical interconnect systems. In this position, you will be responsible for the hands‑on engineering of onboard avionics, power distribution, sensor/seeker interfaces, Control Actuation System (CAS) drive electronics, flight telemetry systems, and inertial sensor integration. You will own hardware across the full lifecycle—from concept design and schematic capture through circuit simulation, physical PCB layout, prototype bringing‑up, environmental testing, and flight test support.
Electrical Hardware & Avionics Design
Design, analyze, and test high‑reliability, ruggedized printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for onboard flight processing, signal conditioning, power conversion, and motor control.
Develop power supply electronics and power conditioning circuits tailored for high‑strain missile environments (utilizing thermal batteries, linear/switching regulators, and protection networks).
Design motor drive electronics and high‑current power stages for electromechanical actuators (CAS) and thrust vector control (TVC) systems.
Subsystem Integration & Interconnects
Integrate Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) sensors (Inertial Measurement Units, GPS, altimeters) and seeker payloads with flight computer interfaces.
Design MIL‑spec cable harnesses and interconnect systems engineered to withstand extreme acceleration, vibration, shock, and thermal loads.
Develop and maintain Electrical Interface Control Documents (ICDs), schematic diagrams, and system wiring topologies.
Signal Integrity, EMI/EMC, & Qualification
Implement Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and shielding techniques per military standards.
Perform circuit simulations, signal integrity (SI) analysis, and thermal‑electrical derating evaluations for critical avionics components.
Support and execute environmental qualification testing of electronic assemblies under thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration, pyroshock, and thermal shock conditions.
Lab Testing, HWIL, & Field Support
Design and build Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), test fixtures, and breakout boxes for laboratory integration and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HWIL) testing.
Perform detailed troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root‑cause investigations on hardware anomalies during bench testing, HWIL runs, or field operations.
Support remote test range campaigns for pre‑flight checkouts and post‑flight telemetry/data analysis.
Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. with 3+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability electronics design.
IMU & Inertial Sensor Experience: Direct hands‑on experience integrating tactical or strategic‑grade IMUs (RLG, FOG, or high‑performance MEMS IMUs such as Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, or Analog Devices units). In‑depth understanding of IMU electrical interfaces, clocking/synchronization protocols, dynamic range constraints, and noise‑sensitivity characteristics.
Circuit Design & Tools: Proven track record in schematic capture and PCB layout using industry‑standard EDA tools (Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics/Siemens EDA). Hands‑on experience with mixed‑signal, analog, high‑speed digital, and power conversion (DC‑DC) design.
Bus Protocols & Interfaces: Experience implementing standard defense and industrial communication buses (MIL‑STD‑1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet/UDP, CAN bus, RS‑422/485, SPI, I2C).
Military Standards & Test: Working knowledge of key military standards (MIL‑STD‑461 for EMI/EMC, MIL‑STD‑810 for environmental testing, and MIL‑STD‑704 for aircraft/missile power).
Security Clearance: Must hold an active US DoD Secret security clearance with eligibility for Top Secret / SCI.
Desired Qualifications: Experience designing drive electronics for brushless DC (BLDC) motors or actuators. Background in ordnance safety design or electronic fuzing (ESAD/ESAF) circuits per MIL‑STD‑1901A. Familiarity with RF interfaces, antennas, or telemetry transmitters. Basic FPGA development (VHDL/Verilog) or micro‑controller firmware integration experience.
