Job summary

TechServ is seeking experienced Engineering Technicians/Designers for our Electrical Distribution team. You will design distribution systems, develop construction drawings, and perform pole loading analyses using SPIDAcalc, Maximo, and DDS.

You will collaborate with Engineers, Project Coordinators, and field crews to deliver accurate, code-compliant designs for new construction and upgrades. Travel to regional job sites is expected roughly 20% of the time.

Qualifications

Previous experience designing electrical distribution systems is required.
Hands-on experience with Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of overhead and/or underground electrical distribution systems.
Experience interpreting utility standards, construction drawings, field notes, and design specifications.
Experience completing pole loading analysis and calculations using SPIDAcalc.
Ability to develop accurate, constructible distribution designs with limited supervision.
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other utility design/drafting software is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Project Coordinators, field personnel, and other Designers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop electrical distribution designs in accordance with client standards and design requirements.
Utilize Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc to support distribution design and project documentation.
Prepare designs for new construction, upgrades, relocations, rebuilds, and other projects.
Review field data and infrastructure to develop accurate designs.
Analyze reports and project requirements to plan distribution projects.
Perform pole loading calculations using SPIDAcalc.
Create and maintain design drawings, redlines, and markups.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, field personnel, and other Designers.
Ensure projects stay within scope, budget, and schedule.
