Job summary

The Haskell Company in Atlanta seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Distribution Design to lead the development of overhead and underground distribution design packages and mentor a team of engineers and designers.

You will drive grid modernization projects, ensure code compliance with NESC/NEC/RUS/DOT, and collaborate with clients and field teams to deliver reliable power distribution solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of experience in electrical distribution design for OH and UG.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of electrical distribution projects (OH, UG, URD).
• Develop detailed construction work packages using AutoCAD, DDS, GIS, SAP, MicroStation, PoleForeman, SpidaCalc, O-Calc.
• Perform engineering calculations such as pole loading, guying, voltage drop, flicker analysis, conductor sizing, cable pulling, and protective device coordination.
• Conduct field assessments and site visits to collect critical data and verify conditions.
• Oversee and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to maintain scope, schedule, and budget.
• Ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, RUS, DOT, and client standards.
• Coordinate with permitting authorities, ROW specialists, utilities, municipalities, and third-party owners for approvals.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering and design packages.
• Support construction with guidance, redlines, and post-construction validation.
• Lead or participate in root cause analysis for outages or reliability improvements.
• Communicate effectively with clients, utility reps, and field teams.
