Job summary

WSP is seeking a Technical Director, Electrical Engineer for the San Francisco or Sacramento, CA office. The role leads electrical design within the Transportation Sector and oversees complex infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 12+ years of post-education experience in electrical design for utility, industrial, or commercial power projects.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Advanced proficiency with electrical design principles, permitting, and project work.
• Experience coordinating with adjacent disciplines (P&C, SCADA, telecom).
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 70/NEC, NFPA 130, NFPA 101 and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Direct segments of a major project and apply engineering concepts and techniques.
• Analyze complex problems and develop new or improved methods.
• Monitor project progress for technical accuracy, schedule, and budget.
• Represent the project at meetings and conferences.
• Plan, organize and supervise engineering staff on large, complex projects.
• Make staffing recommendations for projects.
• Direct design tasks with independent judgment on techniques and procedures.
• Ensure specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality.
