The Role

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Designer for our Life Science group based out of Philadelphia or North Carolina-USA. The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for creating facility-level electrical designs for low-voltage systems, including power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, and special systems, in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), building codes, and industry standards. Designer will develop detailed electrical construction drawings and designs that adhere to the company standards.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities

  • Responsible for facility-level electrical design for low-voltage systems (480V and below) including power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, and special systems using the National Electrical Code (NEC), governing building codes, and industry standards.
  • Participating in the design effort on large and small projects.
  • Develop electrical construction drawings (i.e. lighting plans, power plans, special systems plans, fire alarm system plans, details, single lines / riser diagrams, and panel schedules).
  • Coordinate design requirements with other discipline engineers / designers and architects.
  • Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company design and production standards.

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future.

Expected :

  • 10+ years of experience in Electrical Design focused on building systems.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and NFPA Standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, and Bluebeam.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability with lighting design software (AGi32, Visual, or ElumTools) is a plus.
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Science, and Laboratory industries is a plus.
