Job description

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer for our locations in Tulsa, OK, Greenwood Village, CO, Chattanooga, TN, Richmond, VA. This role involves designing power systems primarily for heavy industrial facilities, oil, gas, and chemical projects. Responsibilities include complete electrical designs at the drawing level, assisting the Project Engineer with drafting and some design tasks.

Hourly pay ranges from $40.00 to $52.00, depending on experience and skills.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

1. Application of Knowledge of Building Systems (Conceptual Design):
   • Knowledge of codes and standards such as NFPA 70, 72, 101, 110, 780; UL 96A; ASHRAE 90.1.
   • Collaborate with the engineering team and building/facility owners to select appropriate systems and products.
   • Design lighting systems, understand various lighting applications, color temperatures, and control systems.
   • Design power distribution, panel schedules, grounding, and protection systems.
   • Apply knowledge of emergency, legally required, and standby systems.
   • Coordinate power utilization connections.
   • Document calculations for lighting, power loads, and voltage drops to ensure code compliance.
   • Design fire alarm, telecommunications (EIA/TIA standards), CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.
   • Develop a growing knowledge of EIA/TIA standards.
2. Design:
   • Conduct quality control reviews of own and others' designs.
3. Construction Support:
   • Assist with field oversight, RFI responses, shop drawings, submittals, and inspections.
4. Project Management:
   • Monitor work of assigned designers.
   • Ensure incorporation of all project comments and markups into design documents.
