Job summary

FormFactor, Inc. is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead production‑ready probe card electrical designs, translating complex customer requirements into manufacturable solutions. You will collaborate with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to drive design excellence and tool/process improvements.

You will mentor engineers, refine design methodologies, and ensure designs meet stringent performance and production standards across the full product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of impedance control, PDN, signal integrity, and analog/digital design.
• Experience interpreting complex requirements into practical electrical designs.
• Experience with multilayer PCB and ceramic/organic substrates is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple technical projects within schedules.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with customers and teams.
• Ability to train and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop production-ready probe card electrical designs meeting requirements and standards.
• Interpret complex specifications and apply design rules and manufacturing requirements.
• Use design tools to translate customer requirements into high-quality designs.
• Create, analyze, and validate netlists for probe card applications.
• Perform design entry from schematics and technical formats.
• Apply impedance control, PDN, signal integrity, and routing knowledge to support performance.
• Review designs for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance prior to release.
• Translate customer requirements into design specs for internal/external teams.
• Evaluate design approaches balancing electrical performance, manufacturability, and schedule.
• Interface with customers and vendors for requirements and recommendations.
• Provide technical input to Sales and Design during evaluations and feasibility studies.
• Troubleshoot electrical design issues and develop practical solutions.
• Coordinate design projects from requirements to production release.
• Manage project scope, schedules, milestones, and quality requirements.
• Monitor progress and resolve risks with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing, and customers.
• Define and improve design tools and processes; document guidelines and best practices.
• Train and mentor new engineers; share knowledge and best practices.
