Job summary

Johnson Service Group is seeking a senior electrical engineer for a long-term contract in Birmingham, AL. The role requires a PE license (preferred) and 7+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in EPC environments.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, ElecDes, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, A6132 and Dialux is essential, along with strong codes knowledge. Responsibilities include developing detailed design deliverables, performing calculations, implementing instrumentation for process

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
• PE license preferred or actively working toward licensure.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical, preferably EPC environments.
• Proficiency in electrical design software including AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, ElecDes, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, A6132 and Dialux.
• Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE and other relevant codes and standards.
• Experience with EPC project workflows and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design deliverables including: Single-line diagrams, motor element diagrams, interconnect diagrams, electrical cable schedules, equipment specifications, MTOs, grounding, lighting, lightning protection, and heat trace systems.
• Perform engineering calculations to validate design integrity.
• Design and implement instrumentation systems for process control and monitoring.
• Conduct arc flash studies, grounding grid analysis, and relay coordination.
• Prepare construction packages and support field implementation.
• Ensure designs meet client expectations, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project alignment.
• Provide on-site startup and commissioning support as needed.
• Recognize and communicate scope changes.
