Job summary

Johns Manville seeks a Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to lead electrical controls engineering for capital projects across the Insulation Systems manufacturing operations. The role combines internal consulting with hands-on project management to scope, justify, implement, and document projects for North American facilities.

The candidate must be located near an IS plant (Defiance, OH preferred) with a hybrid work schedule and up to 40–60% travel across the United States to support project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years in control systems engineering in manufacturing.
• Proven electrical and control system engineering capabilities.
• Ability to provide complex and innovative solutions to engineering problems.
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Lead Electrical/Controls Engineer on major/complex projects (> $5M).
• Experience managing projects in the $500k–$2M range.
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel 40–60%.

Responsibilities

• Perform power and electrical control systems engineering for projects.
• Prepare and review electrical specifications for equipment and processes.
• Assist Corporate Electrical Group with specifications and standards.
• Support manufacturing operations and electrical safety initiatives.
• Provide project management and oversight from start to finish.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications and contracts.
• Maintain communication with management and project customers.
• Coordinate supplier/contractor activities including commissioning and training.
• Develop bid requests, supplier lists, bid evaluations, and purchasing recommendations.
• Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, scope, deliverables, and reporting.
• Coordinate external engineering resources when needed.
• Support remote facilities with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Project workload includes 70–80% electrical/project management; 10% plant support/standards.
