Job summary

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. in Houston is seeking an Electrical Control Systems Engineer to design, implement and sustain electrical control systems for electrohydraulic tubular handling drilling products.

You will work with mechanical and controls teams to specify requirements, produce wiring diagrams, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across IEC/NEC, ATEX/IECEx, CSA, UL and CE standards. The role requires collaboration with field service and product teams and can involve up to

Qualifications

Expert understanding of electrical engineering principles and terminologies.
Ability to review, troubleshoot and support existing electrical control systems while revising or developing new ones.
Knowledge of PLC based control systems (Siemens and IQAN preferable).
Proficient in reading electrical schematics/diagrams for LV, HV, AC/DC systems.
Experience with heavy industrial electrohydraulic machinery.
Strong communication and multitasking skills.
Willingness to travel globally (around 20%).

Responsibilities

Design and maintain electrical systems through wiring diagrams/schematics.
Specify and support electrical system components.
Develop specifications, procedures and expectations with cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with field service technicians to inspect and troubleshoot equipment.
Identify opportunities to improve electrical control systems and add value to products.
Update components while integrating emerging technologies.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements (IEC/NEC, ATEX/IECEx, CSA, UL, CE).
Document electrical hardware and system installation, commissioning, inspections, and troubleshooting.
Manage tasks and projects to meet timelines and commitments.
